Feb 10, 2025 · David DustanShout out to Chris Sims from Mills in Farmville. He came to my house today to do a routine service inspection and discovered a potentially dangerous situation. Throughout his lengthy (through no fault of his own) stay in my crawl space, he remained cheerful, calm and competent. Thanks, too, to Sonja in the Mills office for her professionalism and attention to detail. Mills is truly a company to be appreciated and hired.

Dec 06, 2024 · Leslie ForsytheHad 2 techs come to my house on Friday for maintenance, they spent 4 hours there and in the last 30 minutes they were finishing with the thermostat and made a comment it switched into aux heat. They didn’t mention it to me, I assumed they’d fixed it. They said everything was working great and left. For the rest of the day/night my system never came out of aux heat and it was blowing cold air (it was 30 degrees that night, of course). We got another tech to respond Saturday morning and when I called, they told me their response and diagnosis would be no charge. Another tech came Saturday morning and determined it was an “us” problem and said our thermostat was bad. Luckily, we had a spare and he said he would look into the price for installation for us. We were waiting on the price but were fully prepared to install it ourselves. I asked for the price 2-3 times in the hour and he kept telling me he was still working on getting it. He then proceeded to install the thermostat without my authorization or me giving him a price. So then he tells me I owe $200 on the spot for diagnosis and labor. For one, I was told the diagnosis would be no charge and he said that was only if it was due to a mistake on their part and told me I’m supposed to believe that after no issues at all with my system for 3 years, it was a massive coincidence that it just so happened to go bad in the time that the previous techs were there. Second, I asked about the labor cost because I told him I asked about the price multiple times and never got an answer or authorized him to install it. If I’d known I’d have to pay $200 I would’ve installed it myself as I didn’t have $200 to spend on a maintenance error. The tech was insanely condescending and rude to me until my husband came in, then the tech immediately changed his attitude and said he would make a call and made it so we didn’t owe $200 on the spot but we still have to pay it. So in the end, I’m 9 months pregnant and stuck with a $200 diagnosis and labor bill stemming from this tech taking advantage of me and talking to me like I’m stupid because my husband wasn’t there the whole time. This $200 bill at Christmas time that I don’t even believe I should have considering I was told diagnosis was free and I never authorized the labor AND in addition, I probably through the roof electric bill after having my emergency heat on for 24 hours while blowing cold air. Happy Holidays, worst service experience of my life and I’ve literally never complained about any service before.

Dec 25, 2023 · Melanie KincheloeAbsolute nightmare company to deal with. My husband signed them for a turnkey central air install. First of all, they cut into the ceiling in our kid's room without covering or moving anything to enlarge an attic access splattering his entire room in attic debris. Zero warning before arrival, common sense, or respect for your home and family. I had to go out and get plastic sheeting and protective items because they didn't bring anything like that. The installers left a mess every single day and acted like haughty children when asked to use shoe covers.Second, they took forever and still screwed up our central air install, causing damage to our house. When the system failed the next day after they finally left, they jerked us around about it for a month in cold weather leading to us sending a termination letter and deciding to go with someone else to get the heat on, finish work and fix their mistakes. They say "we could have got it working" after the fact, not helpful in the slightest when we had to A) chase them down to get one token attempt a week of them B) coming to install faulty part after faulty part in that month C) with the only overnight heat source being Empire wall unit propane and everyone sleeping in one bedroom ...until we finally got so fed up with Mills that we took our business elsewhere. It's been months now going back and forth with just about every employee of this organization, each more crooked and loathsome than the last, and as of this writing, they still won't willingly give back the money for work they didn't do and the money we're out because they are so bad at what they did do, and the story changes every time. At best they have awful communication or a lot of CYA going on and at worst are intentionally being incredibly dishonest. We only communicate in writing so we can keep track of how they spin everything to suit their changing narrative. They tried to ignore the termination (due to their breach of contract) letter. They tried to say that some of the things they screwed up were supposed to be temporary for us to redo after them, which is nowhere in the contract and they know it. They just continue to hold on to the amount they charged for the full work after being kicked out (pretty sure that's illegal), and shift blame for their mistakes onto the customer. They lied to the credit card company when we disputed the charge for the full amount. They also tried to say they should get to finish the work because they took out a permit for the install ... Come to find they never even applied for one when they were legally required to in our county before work started.Heed the negative reviews here!!! These are very bad people who will take advantage of your trust, and then pretend like you were being unreasonable to expect them to act honorably. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy or let them set foot in my house again if they were the last HVAC company on Earth. How ridiculously terrible they are seems to be something everyone local knows but we sure didn't and so I'm writing this so you won't have to find out the hard way like we did.
