Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning Introduce
For residents of Chesapeake and the wider Hampton Roads area in Virginia, selecting a reliable contractor for essential home systems like Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is one of the most important decisions a homeowner makes. When considering options, it is vital to research the company's background, service history, and, crucially, customer feedback.
Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning is a contractor based in Chesapeake, VA, known to provide services in the critical area of climate control for residential properties. The company has been noted in association with new construction projects, partnering with home builders in the region to install HVAC systems in new homes. For anyone moving into a new build or needing service on their existing unit, this firm often appears on the list of available or warranty-contracted service providers.
The company is positioned to address the full spectrum of heating and cooling needs that Virginia's climate demands, from the installation of new systems in half-million-dollar homes to ongoing repair and maintenance. However, potential customers should be aware that public feedback presents a mixed picture. While the provision of HVAC services is a professional necessity, the details surrounding execution, particularly in installation quality and responsiveness, have been raised as major concerns by local users who have utilized their services, often under warranty or through builder contracts.
Accounts from local homeowners emphasize significant issues related to installation errors that led to costly subsequent repairs by other companies. Examples include improperly run piping causing system leaks and issues that lead to unit freezing and excessively high utility bills. Furthermore, difficulties with timely appointments and resolving recurring problems have been a source of frustration for customers relying on their services under warranty agreements. For Virginia homeowners, this kind of feedback highlights the paramount importance of thorough due diligence and potentially seeking a second opinion before committing to major service or repair work, regardless of who provided the initial installation.
Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning maintains a professional office and operations base within a key business corridor of Chesapeake, ensuring they are centrally located to serve the densely populated areas of southeastern Virginia.
The company’s address is:
Address: 1226 Executive Blvd Ste 117, Chesapeake, VA 23320, USA
This location in Chesapeake provides the contractor with good accessibility to service areas including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. Being located in a major commercial area of the city is generally indicative of a structured business operation capable of deploying service technicians across the region, making them geographically convenient for a wide range of Hampton Roads residents needing assistance with their HVAC systems.
Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning operates as an essential trade contractor specializing in residential and light commercial climate control. Their primary services are centered on the installation, repair, and ongoing maintenance of systems vital for home comfort.
Based on their specialization and industry role, the general services offered include:
- **Heating System Installation and Service:** Providing expert installation, repair, and maintenance for furnaces, heat pumps, and other essential heating units to keep Virginia homes warm during the colder months.
- **Air Conditioning System Installation and Service:** Handling the full scope of AC work, including new unit installation, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure effective cooling throughout the hot and humid Virginia summers.
- **Plumbing Services:** Some public sources also suggest the company may offer certain plumbing services, indicating a potential expansion of general mechanical contracting capabilities beyond strictly HVAC.
- **New Construction HVAC:** Working directly with home builders (such as Ashdon Builders and EDC Homes) to install new, complete HVAC systems during the construction phase of residential developments.
- **Warranty and Contracted Service:** Providing mandated repair and service under warranty agreements for systems they installed in new homes.
- **General HVAC Repair and Maintenance:** Troubleshooting and fixing issues with existing air conditioning and heating systems for both residential and commercial clients.
When considering the company's intended role in the local market, the following points can be highlighted as features of their operation, though the quality of delivery may be inconsistent based on customer reports:
- **Builder Association:** A key feature is their established relationship with prominent local builders, positioning them as a frequent contractor for new residential HVAC installations in the Chesapeake area.
- **Comprehensive HVAC Offering:** The business model aims to provide end-to-end service for heating and cooling, from system installation in new builds to post-sale repair work under contract.
- **Accessibility:** Their central Chesapeake location facilitates their reach across the Hampton Roads region.
- **System Diagnostics:** The firm possesses the tools and personnel to diagnose issues with AC and heating systems, a standard function necessary for any HVAC company.
However, it is necessary for Virginia consumers to be aware of the following critical points raised by actual customers:
- **Reported Installation Defects:** Multiple accounts describe significant, costly installation errors, such as improperly run pipes leading to refrigerant leaks and coils freezing.
- **Poor System Performance Post-Installation:** Homeowners have reported recurring problems post-installation, including continuously cycling units that led to extremely high electrical bills, suggesting initial installation faults were not adequately resolved.
- **Subpar Customer Service/Responsiveness:** Difficulties in scheduling timely appointments and follow-up have been cited, even for systems under warranty, requiring homeowners to 'hound' the company for service.
- **Lack of Thorough Diagnostics:** Reports suggest technicians failed to perform basic checks (e.g., in the attic) to correctly diagnose underlying issues, leading to incorrect repairs and recurring failures.
For individuals in the Chesapeake, VA, region seeking contact with Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning, the following details are publicly available for reaching their professional location:
Address: 1226 Executive Blvd Ste 117, Chesapeake, VA 23320, USA
Phone: (757) 547-9252
Customers requiring service, particularly those under a new home warranty, should use this contact information to schedule appointments or seek resolutions to existing HVAC issues within their Virginia home.
For new homebuyers in Virginia whose builder has partnered with Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning, the primary reason for engaging with the company is often the necessity of fulfilling a **warranty requirement**. When a new home's HVAC system is under a specific builder’s warranty, the homeowner is often contractually obligated to use the installing contractor, Wayne Ables, for initial repairs and services. This makes them a required choice for new construction service.
However, given the serious and repeated negative feedback from multiple customers—concerning improper installation, recurring system failures, excessive electrical costs, and perceived poor customer service—it is strongly advised that any Virginia user in need of their services proceed with extreme caution. While they are a licensed contractor in the area, a consumer’s decision to choose them outside of a mandatory warranty situation should be weighed against the documented risk of significant issues. In such cases, obtaining a second, independent professional inspection from a highly-rated, third-party HVAC contractor is strongly recommended to verify the integrity and correct operation of any work performed by Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning.

Wayne Ables Heating & Air Conditioning Reviews
** Update **Turns out when they installed the outdoor unit they ran pipes too close together where the pipes rubbed, thus causing a hole in the freon pipe. The signs were there with our ac drain pipe making our yard look like a swamp, because the coils were freezing over. They were both too lazy and ill educated to go in the attic to check. Cost us almost 3k to get it fixed with a reputable company.-------They were the company our EDC house contracted with while under warrenty. Our AC went out in May 2017, and after several calls all on my part practically hounding on them, finally got an appointment days out. They did a light look around said was the freon, and ac worked for the summer. Magically now a year later our AC is out again with the same EXACT issues. Just never deal with this company.
May 15, 2019 · Krista KloeppingHorrible Horrible Company!! If you are in the market for a new home this is the HVAC company Ashdon Builders uses!!We closed on our brand new $500,000 plus home and have had nothing but issues with this company. My HVAC unit keeps cycling and has caused our electrical bill to be closed to $500 a month. They have been out three times to fix it and still have not been able to do so. We hired another company to come out and inspect the unit and found that Wayne Ables completely screwed up the install. If I could give them no stars I would - they don't even deserve the one I had to give them!

Oct 21, 2017 · Scott HumpertThis is the absolute worst contractor that my husband and I have ever dealt with. We live in East Beach and our air conditioners are under warranty. We brushed into an emergency on/off switch while in the attic and turned the a/c turned off. We called and asked them come and look at the problem. They came and turned the switch back on and promptly billed us for $150. We called and asked (very nicely) if they would consider lowering the bill by a little bit because it seemed to us like $150 was a bit high. We did expect to pay something but not $150 for a short drive to flip a switch. The owner, Wayne Ables, called and started yelling at me and threatening me with an attorney!!! I was very nice and calm during the entire conversation only asking for him to hear my side of the story. I could not believe it!!! We did not say that we were not going to pay the bill but were asking for consideration considering his workers were here for five minutes. He is a hot head and dealing with him was the worst I have ever experienced!!! We will be telling all of our neighbors as well as the East Beach website and our contractor. I wish I had him yelling and screaming at me for no reason what so ever on tape!

Jun 13, 2013 · Stephanie JordanDo not do business with this guy. He's very unprofessional. My AC unit went out so I called him and it went to voicemail so I left a message. Later on the next day he called me back and said he would send someone out but I ended up playing phone tag with him all day and couldn't get in contact with him again. Then he calls back saying that his phone can't receive voicemails or he can't check them. He told me he would get with one of his techs and setup a time to come out. Well it's after 7 pm and still no callback and nobody has come out yet! Will never do business with him and I'll encourage you not too. I'm going to also tell my fellow navy servicemen and women on base to not do business with him either. I might even put in a complaint on the better business bureau website as well. First order of business however is finding a reputable company to fix my AC!

Jul 17, 2016 · Shannon HarrisonOne Star is to high but I can't do anything less!! My heating A/C unit has a bad component causing the fan to run continuously. The part is covered under warranty but they won't come out to fix it unless I pay them $150 for a service call. I explained to them that I have a friend who does heating and cooling (the same friend who determined what the problem is) and he could make the repair, I just need the part. They won't allow me to have the part because "They are in the business of making money"! I don't pay labor costs if I take my car in for warranty service, why should he make a profit off of me for components covered under warranty? Needless to say, I have not gotten a resolution as of yet, but I'm bound and determined to get my part and not pay a dime. I will NEVER do business with this snake oil salesman ever again, and I encourage anyone considering doing business with this guy to run far far away and find a reputable company.
