For residents and property owners in Bloomington, Indiana, and throughout Monroe County, maintaining a properly functioning Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is crucial for comfort and energy efficiency. The extreme seasonal temperature swings common to the Hoosier State—from frigid winters to hot, humid summers—demand specialized and reliable service. Lowers HVAC, LLC serves the local area as a dedicated contractor focusing specifically on the core functions of heating and air conditioning. While the title "general contractor" typically applies to broader construction oversight, Lowers HVAC operates as your essential, specialized contractor for all things related to indoor climate control.
Located conveniently on the boundary of Greene County and serving the Bloomington area, this company is a local resource aimed at addressing the diverse HVAC needs of the community. In this region, a local service provider with a strong understanding of area-specific equipment and environmental factors is highly valued. The commitment of Lowers HVAC to the local 47403 zip code and surrounding communities positions them as a key player in ensuring residential and commercial properties remain comfortable, safe, and efficient throughout the year. Their focus on the highly technical area of HVAC systems ensures that they are specialists in a critical field of property maintenance.
Choosing a local contractor means selecting a business that is close by and responsive to the needs of its immediate neighbors. This proximity is often a major benefit when dealing with unexpected breakdowns or system failures, which can be an emergency situation depending on the weather. As a local business, Lowers HVAC is invested in the reputation they build within the community, striving to deliver necessary services to keep Indiana homes functional. Understanding a contractor's operations, service practices, and reputation is vital for any Bloomington resident seeking reliable and professional service for their home comfort systems.
In Indiana, HVAC systems are complex and require knowledgeable professionals for proper installation, maintenance, and repair. A malfunction in an air conditioner or a furnace can lead to discomfort, high energy bills, or even potential hazards. The specialization of Lowers HVAC in this critical domain suggests that customers are relying on focused expertise to protect their investment in their home comfort system, whether they are in the initial installation phase or require complex diagnostics and repairs on existing equipment.

As a company whose core function is specialized heating and air conditioning, Lowers HVAC, LLC is positioned to handle essential climate control needs. While exhaustive details of every single service are not publicly listed, their designation as a "Heating and Air Conditioning" business indicates their focus on the primary components of an indoor climate system. The services they offer, typical of an HVAC specialist, would include, but are not limited to:
- Heating System Services: Installation, maintenance, and repair of furnaces and other heating apparatus essential for Indiana winters.
- Air Conditioning Services: Installation, maintenance, and repair for cooling units to ensure relief during the warm, humid Indiana summers.
- System Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnostic services to identify and fix issues, ranging from electrical problems to mechanical failures in central air and heating units.

Evaluating the choice of a local contractor often involves reviewing the specific operational aspects that define the customer experience. Key features and highlights of Lowers HVAC include:
- Local Bloomington Focus: Deeply established in the Bloomington/Monroe County area, offering localized service for residents within the 47403 zip code and surrounding areas.
- Heating and Cooling Specialization: The company's defined focus on HVAC ensures concentrated expertise in this specific and complex trade.
- Experience with Installations: Customer reviews mention full system and geothermal unit installations, indicating they handle comprehensive system overhauls, which are significant projects.
- Pricing Transparency with Quotes: In one positive review, a customer noted that the final bill was "exactly what we were quoted," suggesting an effort toward honest, upfront pricing for installation projects.
- Direct Communication with Owner: Feedback indicates the owner, Mike Lowers, is personally involved in the consultation and quoting process, which provides a direct line of communication with the leadership for initial project discussions.
For Bloomington residents seeking a local, specialized HVAC contractor, choosing Lowers HVAC means connecting with a company that is situated within the community and has a proven track record of handling major projects, including full system installations and geothermal unit setups, as documented by customer reviews. For new installations, the testimonial that the price matched the quote offers reassurance regarding financial expectations and planning—a major concern for any homeowner tackling a large project. The personal involvement of the owner in the consultation process can also be seen as a significant advantage, potentially providing a higher degree of expertise and accountability during the quoting stage compared to larger firms with multiple layers of management.
However, potential Indiana clients should also proceed with awareness of the challenges highlighted in other customer feedback. Specifically, reports of poor communication regarding appointments, disputed diagnoses, and concerns over billing practices (such as the inability to provide an invoice number or receipts for credit card payments) are factors that any prudent customer must consider. It is always best practice for any homeowner to seek clear, written estimates before work begins, ensure they are present for service calls, and demand proper invoicing and secure payment methods to safeguard their interests.
For straightforward installation projects where the scope of work is clearly defined and a binding quote is established, Lowers HVAC, with its local knowledge and specialization, could be a strong choice. However, customers should actively engage with the company to set clear expectations regarding scheduling, diagnosis validation (especially in complex real estate transactions), and secure, documented payment processes. The commitment to local service in Bloomington remains a core value, and by navigating the process with diligence, local users can benefit from their specialized HVAC expertise. Ultimately, the company’s history in the area and capability to handle full system installations are compelling reasons to consider them for your major heating and cooling needs in Monroe County.

Lowers HVAC Reviews
DO NOT USE. Recently had a real estate transaction where home inspector said something about a/c wasn’t working. Well it was but he was just too incompetent to use the digital thermostat correctly. Buyers wanted unit looked at, mind you they made an appointment with no notification to myself, just showed up unannounced with the buyers agent. Lowers said a board was bad, I knew better. Had Daytons do a second look as they are trusted in the community and sure enough, no problems with the unit and they even explained what the inspector got wrong and that it’s a common mistake. Buyers didn’t care about second opinion and wanted the non broken unit, fixed. I had to pay them almost $400 to fix something that wasn’t broken. Called to pay invoice, extremely ignorant dispatcher answers phone, just wants to take down my credit card info and says they’ll figure out where it goes. They wanted no invoice number, no receipt given. Said they are a small company and that’s how they operate. Couldn’t speak to anyone else, she was it. Said “you don’t have to use us” and I gladly wouldn’t have but I was forced to. Avoid at all costs. If they can’t plan appointments correctly and can’t provide safe credit card practices and receipts…how well do you think they are at fixing furnaces?

Dec 08, 2024 · J DeckI’m a tenant in a home and my furnace stopped working along with my thermostat. I did everything I knew before calling my landlord. He said he would send someone out and that they would call prior to coming. Mike and another woman (did not catch her name unfortunately) called less than an hour later. They were out within 30 minutes and had me back up and running within an hour! (It ended up being a shorted wire) They were great, especially with it being the weekend. Highly recommend ✨

Dec 16, 2023 · Rebekah BiseThey installed our AC and furnace in our brand new home 3 years ago. Every extreme season (summer/winter), starting the first winter in our home since the installation the furnace and/or AC has broke. When I have called them out, they rarely have been able to come so I have to have other companies come. When they come they charge for repairs on their BRAND NEW units they installed. Would not recommend. Did you sell us equipment that is faulty or did you just do a poor job installing? Will be reporting to the BBB.

Jul 28, 2023 · Emily PavichIn the beginning, Mike Lowers and Ed were responsive. Later on, another employee actually screwed up our water heater. We complained, they would not listen and the job was never completed, but they still charged us. They actually charged our credit card without approval or notification….so be careful and do not pay them on credit card. We came to know later when we received our credit card statement. They save (Maria - Mike’s mother does the accounting) this credit card information without customer’s knowledge.

Jul 09, 2023 · Ashish KumarAt first, the owner, Mike Lowers, was very pleasant and easy to work with as he was installing the entire HVAC system for my new house during the construction phase. Not being an expert at HVAC, I thought everything was going smoothly. Shortly after moving in, I noticed our geothermal system was making excessive noise. During further investigation, I read the manual that came with the unit on how it should be installed. The manual said that certain vibration isolation steps should be taken by putting a rubber pad underneath the unit and isolation the unit with a soft duct transition before going to the sheetmetal ducting that runs through the house. Mike did none of these. When I questioned him on it, he became very angry and unable to communicate. He would never come out and resolve the installation. I had already paid him his money at that point in time, so he had no reason to appease me. After having enough of trying to deal with Mike, I called a more reputable and larger HVAC company to come out and take a look. Within 30 minutes, they had identified multiple issues with the system, from the sound isolation, improper air flow through the house mainly due to the air supply and return lines being undersized, and the fresh air exchanger was not installed properly. This is all now going to cost me thousands of dollars to fix after the fact and most likely shortened the life of my HVAC system. I would definitely not recommend Mike for any new house installs especially if they have a geothermal unit.
