Choosing an HVAC contractor requires careful consideration of a company's reputation, reliability, and honesty. While TIER 1 Heating & Air markets itself as a local, veteran-owned business with a comprehensive list of services, it is important for potential customers to review all available public information, including customer feedback. One review details a highly frustrating experience involving multiple visits for the same problem. The customer reported that the technician initially dismissed a suspected leak, leading to repeated freezing of the unit and the family having to use buckets to drain water. The issue was not confirmed until the fourth visit, after weeks of delays and no resolution, leaving the family without a functional A/C unit for an extended period. This review raises concerns about the consistency and accuracy of the diagnostic process.
Another review describes a situation where the company was dispatched by a warranty service. The first technician diagnosed a faulty blower, and a second technician then claimed the motherboard was also bad. Following this, the warranty company informed the homeowner of a $4,000 charge for a full unit replacement, a recommendation the company initially denied making. After the customer pushed for a second opinion, TIER 1 reportedly reversed its stance and a technician returned to perform a simple part swap, which resolved the issue. The customer expressed concern about a "pattern of deception" and felt the company was "trying to scam people into unnecessary replacements." This feedback is critical for prospective customers to evaluate, as it directly relates to trust and the potential for dishonest practices.
These public reviews highlight the importance of transparency, communication, and competence in the HVAC industry. While TIER 1 Heating & Air offers the convenience of local service and a wide range of repairs, the documented customer experiences suggest a need for caution. It is always wise for customers to get multiple opinions and to be wary of any service that seems to escalate a problem unnecessarily or provides inconsistent information. Choosing a service provider should be based on a foundation of confidence in their expertise and integrity, which these reviews bring into question.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My AC unit wasn’t blowing cold air, so my warranty company sent out Tier 1 Heating & Air. The first technician diagnosed a faulty blower and said he’d order the part. A different tech came to install it, but then claimed the motherboard was now bad and also needed replacing. He said he'd order that part too.A few hours later, I get an email from my warranty company saying I’d need to pay $4,000 to replace the entire unit—the first we’d heard about needing a full replacement. When we contacted Tier 1, they initially denied ever suggesting that, but after pushing, they finally admitted they did recommend it because the part "was no longer made."We asked for a second opinion because this whole thing seemed off. Suddenly their tone changed and they said, “Let us try something first.” They came back, swapped out some part (they never told us what), and magically... our AC worked just fine. After digging into their reviews, I noticed multiple similar complaints: Tier 1 tells the warranty company the whole unit needs replacing, when it actually doesn’t.This feels like a pattern of deception. I’m extremely disappointed and feel like they’re trying to scam people into unnecessary replacements. I wouldn't trust them again, and I urge others to be cautious.
Jul 15, 2025 · Christopher DavisThis is now the fourth time the same technician has come to our home, and the air conditioner is still not working properly. From the very first visit, I mentioned that I believed there was a leak in the system. He was here for about 30 minutes, told us everything was reading fine, and left. A few days later, the A/C froze up again with the same issue. Since then, my family has had to continually drain water from the system using buckets because the unit was never properly repaired the first time. When he returned for the second visit (a week later), he finally acknowledged something was wrong. But we had to wait another week just to get that repair done. The same day it was supposedly fixed, the A/C stopped working again. This marked the third visit for the same problem. We contacted the company again, put in another work order, and waited an additional five days. (And before anyone responds that service isn’t available on weekends, I understand that, but it doesn’t change the fact that we were left without air for 5 more days.) The technician returned today, and, surprise, he finally confirmed there is a leak. Now we’re waiting once again for another appointment to hopefully fix it. This has been an incredibly frustrating and unacceptable experience for my family. We’ve dealt with weeks of delays, repeated service visits, and no resolution.
Jul 30, 2025 · Kimberly JonesHorrible experience... I had an HVAC issue called my home warranty compay they sent out tier 1. Guy came out mentioned what he thought the issue was (motor) but just put refrigerant in and said if we have the same issues it's the motor he'll come back out. Within 24 hour had the same issue had to go bact through the warranty company get back with tier 1 and wait days (testing time for the kids and the memorial day holiday we were hot) came back said yep its the motor, he said he would call it in and it would more than likely be back by the end of the week when it was approved. He wrote the ticket up, warranty denied it, company qoute me 900 dollars to come fix it. I asked the warranty company to send a nother company to assess the issue. I ended up paying another company to do a full look and they showed me where there was a burn out through the braker that was causing the issue not what the guy from tier 1 suggested. I believe the guy from tier 1 was playing the long game to keep getting service calls from the warranty company he knowingly saw "the issue" but was willing to attempt to string us along. I have no issue with him, i just will never recommend them to service anyones home. The tech also said that my unit was not maintained, when I have it serviced every year there was a sticker on the right hand side. And before they get on the internet saying i should have contacted them first like they have did to others that gave low ratings. I did, and the manager was out and I was not waiting another day.I would stay away from them or ask your warranty company to use another company.
Jun 07, 2025 · Darnell ThomsCommunication from the company was very helpful, keeping me updated on ETA. Technician arrived behind of schedule and apologized. Service and technician (Dennis) was excellent. He went right to work and diagnosed the problem. Highly recommend your company. This is our second time using this company through Choice Warranty (two different units).
Jun 14, 2025 · Racquel NortonThis is part one of a two part review. Part two will be provided after services are rendered. So I have an older home and decided that a home warranty would be a good investment. My central a/c stopped working a month or so ago so I called my warranty company. They sent a technician out and he stated to me that i had a leak in my evaporator coil and he’d let the warranty company know to set up a repair day/time. Shortly thereafter the warranty company emailed me a claim approval for a whole new system at the cost of $5K. As you can imagine I was very confused because the last I heard my evaporator coil simply had a leak, so I called Tier 1. I asked them if they recommended that I needed a whole new system because the warranty company is saying they did; however, they said that’s not what they recommended. So, I called the warranty company back due to the conflicting information and I was told again Tier 1 recommended a new system (btw my system wasn’t even ten years old). I then called Tier 1 back and was then told because my system was 10 years old I needed to replace it. Annoyed I decided to go with the warranty company because the price was cheaper, but you definitely get what you pay for. The warranty company required that I used Tier 1 services if I went with them, but they were not my first choice. I ordered the materials and did t hear anything for 2-3 weeks, so I called them and was then told I needed to make a partial payment before services could be rendered. I reluctantly made the payment as I’ve NEVER heard of such practices then I get a text message about services not being available for another 2 weeks. Mind you it’s 85+ degrees outside. I asked why was I required to make a partial payment if services weren’t available for 2 weeks and was ignored.
