★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After reading some of the one-star reviews, I was initially hesitant about the home warranty company using Piedmont Mechanical. However, my experience has been outstanding. Shane, the service technician, quickly diagnosed a long-standing issue—a leak in the coil that was causing freon loss and preventing the AC from cooling properly. This problem had persisted for years and went undetected by three other HVAC companies. One even quoted me $7,000–$8,000 for a full system replacement. In reality, I only needed a new coil, which the warranty company is covering. My total out-of-pocket cost? Just $100.Shane was courteous, professional, and honest throughout the entire visit. Communication was seamless—text updates kept me informed about the appointment window and Shane’s arrival time. Based on this experience, especially the exceptional service from Shane, I highly recommend Piedmont Mechanical.
Aug 04, 2025 · MikeI am deeply dissatisfied with the level of service received from Piedmont Mechanical Contractors and feel compelled to share my experience so others can proceed with caution. I placed a service request on Friday, July 25th, and was given an appointment for Monday, July 28th. I rearranged my work schedule to be home for this visit. The technician, Tony, arrived around 2:20 PM and immediately commented, “It feels fine in here,” before I had the opportunity to explain the issue. When I attempted to go over the problem and offer him protective shoe covers, he spoke over me and appeared uninterested in listening. Tony briefly checked the thermostat, then went outside for 20–30 minutes. When he returned, he simply said, “I’ll be back in 15–20 minutes,” and left without further explanation. Eventually, I heard him working outside and noticed the system was up and running again. I asked what the issue had been, but he was dismissive and offered no real explanation. Unfortunately, late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning (July 30th), the system stopped working again. I submitted a recall request through American Home Shield at 1:00 AM and was given an appointment for August 1st. Given the heat advisory in our area and the fact that children are in the home, I contacted Piedmont Mechanical to request an earlier appointment. The young woman who answered the phone was rude, unprofessional, and completely lacking empathy. Her response was that Friday was the earliest available unless there was a cancellation. Fast forward to Friday, August 1st, and Tony once again arrived at my home—this time around 10:30 AM. He mentioned something about a power surge, wiring issues, and needing to order parts, while briefly flashing a few photos on his phone. He said someone would contact me, and suggested I buy a portable air conditioner, noting, “It’s not supposed to be that hot outside.” This was completely dismissive of the fact that our home had been 90–94 degrees, and we were forced to live downstairs with a fan to stay cool.I also asked about installing a new thermostat that required a C wire. He glanced at it and said I didn’t have one, then brushed off my questions when I asked for clarification. When I mentioned that an adapter might be an option, he replied, “Yeah, that’s it,” and walked away without explaining further. Before he left, I asked what the next steps would be. He said someone would follow up. I called the office again—no answer, just a text prompt—so I called back and spoke to the same unempathetic receptionist. I was trying to proactively request an early appointment once the parts were approved, but she stated that Tony had not submitted any notes or documentation. I then realized that I had never received an invoice or diagnosis from the initial service call on July 28th. She insisted I had, but after I told her I had checked all possible sources, she finally emailed the invoice—but it was only from the August 1st visit and listed just “AHS recall.” Only after pressing further did she send the original July 28th invoice. Frustrated, I contacted AHS again and eventually reached someone in their escalations department, hoping to have a different contractor assigned. This entire ordeal has been exhausting, unacceptable, and unprofessional from start to finish. The lack of customer service, technical transparency, and basic human empathy is deeply disappointing. I highly recommend doing thorough research before accepting any contractor through your home warranty provider—and if you’re assigned Piedmont Mechanical, consider requesting a reassignment immediately.**** Update – Aug 2, 2025 ****AHS denied coverage without a clear diagnosis from Piedmont. I had to call to find out what the tech claimed. Now getting a free second opinion. Unfair that another company may need to fix what Piedmont messed up.
Aug 02, 2025 · Toya McDonaldBy far the worst and most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. My condenser fan stopped spinning. Condenser made a loud buzzing noise. American Home Shield contacted Piedmont Mechanical.Cory or Cody came on a Tuesday, and after an hour told me that my condenser was not working because the fan had a small crack. Piedmont then told me that they had to special order a new fan and it wasn’t going to arrive until Thursday. So they scheduled service on Friday. So I went without A/C for almost a week.My family business is General Contracting and in the 18 years that I’ve been doing this, I have NEVER heard nor seen a condenser not work because of a cracked fan. ALSO, luckily, I went to check on my A/C system and found out that the technician had left the thermostat on, so the condenser kept running without a working fan. If I had not turned it off in time, the compressor surely would have overheated and burnt out.I was contacted by FIONA, who was the rudest desk peon I have ever spoken to. I told her that I think the issue was with the condenser motor and asked her to have a motor ordered along with the fan. She responded with, “so do you want us to order the fan or not?” Clearly the woman is incompetent. After several days of trying to get a tracking number for the fan and constantly being denied, SHANE called and said that the fan was delayed and wasn’t arriving until Friday. He lied and said I wasn’t on the schedule for Friday when I was told I was on schedule for service since Tuesday. He rescheduled me for MONDAY and was very rude (began yelling at my wife on the phone) and tried to be condescending.I contacted my own mechanical contractor and guess what? The motor was the problem! I bought and changed the motor and now I have working A/C again.I’m also canceling my American Home Shield warranty company as they were most unhelpful and would not return my service fee when no service was provided.
Jun 18, 2025 · JeffereyAmerican Home shield sent this company out last year for my air conditioner and I was told that there was a leak and supposedly they fixed the leak. Here we are a year later with the exact same problem that was not fixed like they said a year ago. Somehow this year the they come back and say there’s physical damage to the AC coil when they were the last ones to touch it. Just a big mess in this Georgia heat.
Aug 20, 2025 · Tamika EdmondTony is a great technician, ask for him . He did my heating system last year and this year was AC unit ..He explains in details what is wrong. Also suggest other things to keep it maintained thanks Tony. Chris is not a nice person, he has no understanding at all. He calls to argue with you so disrespectful. He needs to learn customer service etiquette. It’s a business. He needs to learn how to respect people feelings or maybe take some classes for professionalism.
