★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Water Heater Replacement - Long Day, Good OutcomeOur recent experience with Michael & Sons Services for a water heater replacement was a mixed bag, ultimately ending with a successful installation but marked by significant timing and logistical challenges.Our appointment was scheduled for an 8:30-10:30 AM arrival, but our technician “Kwame” didn't arrive until 12:00 PM. We were informed he had to pick up parts from another office, but communication about this delay was poor. Despite instructions at scheduling to call my husband's phone (as he was home), the tech claimed he called my number, which I didn't receive due to my secured work environment. My husband had to call to inquire about the delay.The job itself was a substantial undertaking: replacing our water heater and upgrading its size, which required new pipes and parts. It was clear from the start that this was a two-person job. Our technician, working alone, struggled significantly to bring in the large new unit. My husband had to step in and help carry equipment, even opening our back basement door to assist. We had not been informed of the unit's increased size, which would have allowed us to move items to facilitate delivery. My husband also had to intervene to remove doors to prevent damage to our home during the maneuver.The work began with an estimate of "a few hours," so we prepared by reserving water for essential needs. However, the installation proved far more complex and time-consuming. The water heater tray got bent during the single-person installation, reinforcing our belief that a job of this magnitude requires more than one technician. My husband was constantly checking in and assisting throughout the day.When I arrived home at 5:00 PM, there was still no water, and our reserved supply was dwindling, problematic for a household of seven. I couldn't cook dinner and had to go out to purchase food for the family. During this time, I noticed our technician had taken no breaks and had no food or drinks. I brought him some, so he could at least eat while working. We even had to make a trip to a local store to use the bathroom.My husband's vigilance proved crucial when he noticed the mixing valve hadn't been installed. The technician had to partially disassemble the work to install it, further extending the job. Finally, after 8:00 PM, the installation was complete. We had to flush all our sinks, toilets, and showers, and finally had water after 8:30 PM. I made payment at 9:20 PM; the technician was at our home for over nine hours, significantly more than the initial estimate. We were finally able to shower after 10:00 PM.While the technician provided good service and was diligent in his work, the logistical and communication issues, combined with the evident need for additional support for such a large installation, made for a very long and inconvenient day. Michael & Sons should consider deploying two technicians for major installations like these to ensure efficiency, safety, and a better customer experience.

He finally got the line cleared and draining.Unfortunately this didn't give him the time he needed to perform the cleaning and tune-up that I had also scheduled.So Nick should have 5 stars, but Michael and Son gets 4 stars because I feel they should give their techs enough time in the field to get all of the scheduled tasks completed.The work was handled very professionally and Nick is very polite.I do like the track your tech feature. That ensured I was ready.Guess I'll be calling to schedule the cleaning and tune-up for next week.Thank you.
Jul 08, 2025 · Nature GatorI had begun getting sick, not understanding why. I was smelling an odor and hearing sounds coming from the breaker box in my bedroom right beside my bedroom. The electricity turned off and would not turn back on. I felt the wall, and it was hot. I panicked because it was the weekend. I immediately called Michael and Sons. They sent their BEST out to me. Louis and Cindy showed up and took care of everything. I was VERY shocked to see the condition of my breaker box, but thankful that it was caught in time. Louis and Cindy ensured that the right steps were taken to ensure that my family and I were secured and safe during the process of replacing and obtaining a new panel and breaker box. Thank you Michael and Son Services. I appreciate you so much for EVERYTHING your staff did for my family.

Came in and got right to work, providing information every step of the way to help me keep my systems running properly. Great experience and quality work. Added a trap to make sure I did not have to deal with unnecessary water damage in case my lines get clogged.
Apr 26, 2025 · Torland Wingfield3rd Update: I hand-washed my clothes and the dryer just clicks. Ugh. I don't understand how both washer and dryer stop working after plumbers stand on them. Coincidence? For one maybe, but both?2nd Update: It still errored out after a bit. Back to square one trying to figure out the water supply issue.Update: Was able to clear lines and provide water to washer. Still very un-plussed that the tops of the machine were damaged.Water lines are in, so that is done. However, I don't feel like great care was put into our home. Our washer and dryer were used as step stools and nothing was placed on top of them to prevent damage. After I found them damaged I threw some boards on top to distribute the weight, but they should have asked first or laid down their own plywood to distribute their weight. Now I'm trouble shooting why my washer is giving a 4E error. If the lines are providing water (haven't checked yet, about to) then it's possibly from the machine damage. Many holes were cut in places that don't make sense, where it's obvious the other side of the wall is the pantry and air return. Several holes from the house repipe exposed no water lines, and they were not small exploratory holes for an endoscope camera. Walls are marked up with permanent marker and then some not even cut. Same for doors, some permanent markers on doors. Walls? Sure, the drywall needs patched and painted. But a door? Permanent marker on our tub also. Water was under the protective plastic on the floor and left some minor water damage to the laminate. Overall, I'm glad our old 80's poly water lines are replaced, but now I wish I could do my laundry.
