Like many others here, I scheduled a routine maintenance through my home warranty (Super) with On The Horizon HVAC. The appointment was originally set for May 2nd, but they rescheduled three separate times, finally arriving on May 22nd, three weeks late — and even then, three hours past the 11am–3pm window.When the technician finally showed up, the experience immediately felt unprofessional. He was not wearing any company-branded clothing, had no visible identification, and his vehicle was unmarked — no logos, decals, or any indication that he was with an HVAC company. He didn’t even introduce himself or tell me his name until he was about to go into the attic.From there, things got worse. He removed my old air filter but never installed the new ones I handed him. He made inaccurate claims about the age of my unit — saying it was from 1981 or 2006, despite the fact that my house was built well after 2006. He asked if I owned the home, why does that matter?He failed to perform any of the maintenance tasks listed in my warranty package, which included:Calibrating the thermostatTesting temperature splitChecking refrigerant levels and system pressuresPerforming amp draws on motors and compressorRinsing condenser coilsInspecting electrical componentsTesting capacitors, limit switches, and safety switchesCleaning or replacing filtersChecking heat operationCleaning and tightening electrical connectionsChecking contractors and condensate linesInstead, he tried to upsell me on a new system, claiming my capacitor was bad and showing me photos of “mold” from inside the unit. When I asked where exactly the photos were taken, he vaguely said “inside the unit.” I later checked the attic — the photos were clearly of dust on the outside of the unit, likely from a recent roof repair.He brought no tools except a set of gauges — which he never even used — and couldn’t explain what my warranty did or didn’t cover. When I pressed him on that, he admitted he didn’t know, yet was still trying to claim that nothing would be covered. I told him to send the report to the warranty company so they could decide, and declined to start any work order.This was a complete waste of time, with no real maintenance or diagnostics performed, and zero professionalism. It felt more like a scare tactic and sales pitch than a legitimate HVAC service. I’ll be reporting this to my warranty provider and strongly advise others to avoid On The Horizon HVAC.

I got a little nervous when I read the reviews after I scheduled to have a new ac unit installed, but my experience went smoothly. Jose came out Friday because my ac wasn’t cooling all that great. My unit was over 40 years old so I knew it needed to be replaced at some point. He told me some things I could do to patch the problem but ultimately it was about to die so I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet. The price that was quoted was significantly less than I was expecting. Hector came out Monday to install it. They were courteous and professional. Tania in the office was helpful and friendly, and now I don’t have to worry about my ac going out once it hits 104°

I too have Super Home Warranty and when my AC stopped working, I rushed to google reviews to learn more about the company they were sending. It did scare me to see the low ratings but I know that Super does a really good job of vetting service providers. I have to say I received the most outstanding care from Rigo when he came out to repair our AC. I was also contacted by the owner by email and by phone to let me know Rigo was on his way. Once here, Rigo was exceptionally quick and thorough in diagnosing the issue and was able to fix the problem and get our AC working. He also found an unrelated issue and was able to get a part that had come undone up in the attic back in its place. I can't thank Rigo enough because his thorough inspection saved us from further damage. His character and quality of work were completely evident, as well as his attention to detail and his incredible kindness. I was so very impressed by Rigo's work ethic and the quality of his knowledgeable care and professionalism that I would recommend him and On the Horizon again and again.

Avoid Horizon AC at All Costs — Unprofessional and UnreliableI rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Horizon AC, owned by Tonya, was so frustrating and disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others.We originally worked with Horizon through Landmark Home Warranty to replace two air conditioning systems. The process was a mess from the beginning. One of the outside units had to be replaced after only two years because the coils they originally installed failed prematurely. Then, the inside coils of that same unit broke just a year later, after only four years in total. That should not happen with properly installed, quality equipment.The final straw came when the inside coils failed and we were left without AC during the Texas summer. I called Horizon repeatedly—no one answered. When Tonya did finally pick up, she promised a call back by 2 PM that day. She never followed through. This happened multiple times. I even reached out to one of their workers directly, who said Tonya would contact me as soon as she had an update—still nothing. Every time I got her to answer the phone, which was rare, she would make a promise and never follow through. Weeks turned into over a month of silence while we suffered in unbearable heat. Original call end of May, today is June 30th.Because they were the original installers and tied to the warranty, I felt stuck using them. But after weeks of chasing them and zero progress, I gave up and called a third-party HVAC company (not affiliated with my warranty). They came out and replaced everything within days.What they found was shocking:• The outside unit had leaked all the Freon due to poor installation. The technician said Horizon failed to protect a valve during soldering, allowing heat to damage it and cause a slow leak.• The coils installed by Horizon were low-quality and poorly installed, which explained the multiple failures in such a short span. Basically, because they work for landmark, they do the minimum and then you’re calling them every year to replace another part or fix something. I think that is their business Model.To make matters worse, Horizon AC has no voicemail system, so you can’t even leave a message. It’s like calling into a black hole. I even told Tonya that I’d be out of town for a week and she could take her time scheduling the repair—but three weeks after that, I still hadn’t received a single call or update. It’s just pure negligence. I knew she has caller ID because she knew when I was calling, but I even had my husband call and she still wouldn’t pick up the phone. Just try see if they even answer.Bottom line: Horizon AC and Tonya are completely unresponsive, unreliable, and careless in their work. The only reason I used them in the first place was because of the home warranty company. Had I seen their low ratings beforehand, I would have stayed far away.Do yourself a favor—skip the warranty hassle and hire a reputable company that stands behind their work. Horizon AC is a nightmare And I wish I could give them zero stars and frankly sue them for the amount of work and negligence we’ve had to do because of their poor business ethics.If you want a better company call QRF mech ac…. Great service! I'm with oneguard home warranty. My AC went out. I called, Horizon were able to send LJ out to my house the same day, he came and diagnosed and fixed my issue in just a few hours and was very polite and knowledgeable! Can't thank you guys enough! Also gave me a great quote on a new system if needed!
