Aug 14, 2025 · Minnie SharpWe signed up on a special plan with Hiller on our AC unit for repairs/and regular checkups. We finally used it today. We called pretty early this morning and they set up a time between 10 and 12. Luckily the gentleman got here on the earlier side of that since it’s going to be hot out today and the AC wasn’t working. We had the pleasure of welcoming Carson Devers into the house. He came in and quickly assessed the situation and began to work and didn’t drag the process out for one second. He had us fixed and back going before I could offer him something cold to drink since it’s so hot outside. It means a lot to me when someone comes in to do a job and they just knock it out that quick like he did.

I respectfully declined because this should’ve happened months ago and I do not want any servicing done on my units by this company, but it should be known that a Client Relations Manager reached out and very professionally tried to resolve the matter.Giving two stars because the service technicians were always friendly and professional, but their business practices are terrible.Let me start by saying I have given Hiller three months to respond to my reason for canceling my “happy hiller club” membership. They state on their website that someone will be in touch soon to discuss why I canceled. I wasn’t going to write a review, and was going to talk about my concerns with whoever was going to get in touch with me. That never happened, so therefore here is my review:We had Hiller replace one of our HVACs about 9-12 months ago (which now I’m completely second guessing). That cost us $15k for a middle tier unit. We then had our second upstairs unit stop producing cold air about 6 months later. We of course had Hiller come in again, and the tech that came out said we had a leak and we would need a whole new unit. He said he would have sales contact me. I instantly saw this as a red flag. Why would you instantly refer me to sales instead of figuring out if there’s anything else we could do? Additionally, the tech said he barely needed to use his leak detector because it was “so evident” there was a leak.We decided to get a second and third opinion - thank goodness. We had both another big name company come in and a smaller family owned business take a look. Both basically took the unit apart and found absolutely no leak. They were up there for about 2-3 hours looking every which way and BOTH said there was no leak absolutely anywhere in the unit. Furthermore, they said that was a little fishy, in that it seems like the coolant (maybe I’m not using correct terminology) was drained as there was none in there. Strange that Hiller was up in my units for 8+ hours not long before that. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but the fact that both companies said the same thing is truly nerving. And no, I didn’t not tell either of these companies what the other said.All this to be said, we went with the larger company who only charged us $500 to refill the coolant, do a full inspection AND told us we had a year warranty with their work to prove that a leak wasn’t the problem. Our unit still works perfectly to this day after their visit. I then started to do some digging, looking around at reviews, asking neighbors, etc. and it seems almost everyone believes they push sales over solutions.All this to be said: don’t let this big company take advantage of you. $15k compared to $500 is life changing to most people. I live in a very nice neighborhood where I’m sure it’s expected that we have $15k to dispose, but I fear that this company and their questionable sales tactics take advantage of those that simply don’t have that to spend but feel they are forced because there is no other way. Do your research, look at other companies, get second and third opinions, and never ever go with a company that sends you to their sales team after spending 20(ish) minutes looking your units.Hiller, you should be ashamed of yourselves, and I feel bad for your technicians that feel they need to push this on customers to make a steady living. I wish I could post the two other companies, as they were truly wonderful and honest, but I don’t want to put them at risk of Hillers backlash. I will make sure I tell everyone I know of the other companies, though, in hopes no one else gets taken advantage of. Do better.
