★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are scammers!Long story short:They installed our AC unit in our new build home 3 years ago. Our HVAC went out August 8th and today, August 25th, we finally got it fixed after going through someone else (I recommend everyone use Kings HVAC in Sanford they were so professional and awesome!!)This “Cooper Contractors” sent a lady out who I believe is actually just their receptionist to fix the issue instead of the actual technicians. She supposedly fixed it 2 weeks ago, after telling me it was her first time doing this, we paid her $260, then it still wasn’t working a few hours later so I got in contact with her. She said she would come out the next morning, then didn’t show up until almost 4pm, and made a different “diagnosis” and said she was contacting our warranty company. Never heard from her again. This was 12 days ago and now she won’t contact me back. Of note, I’m really glad we didn’t fix whatever she “thought” the issue was because Kings HVAC found the problem in the attic, which this lady never even checked. None of the emails on their website work, it appears they have blocked my number, and they wouldn’t even give me a receipt for their work. No way to contact them, so completely unprofessional, and I hope no one ever has to use this company for anything.Stay far away!
Aug 25, 2025 · Kierstan CampionIf you can avoid Cooper Mechanical installing or repairing your system I would. They were the contactors in charge of installing my Lennox heat pump system in my new construction home. I have had two board failures secondary to faulty wiring in less than 2 years in this home. They do not stand by their work and the owner is completely content with sub par work and system failures. His response on attempts to get work corrected "your home is out of the builders warranty," and therefore not part of their work orders.

Mar 18, 2025 · Meische CoxCooper was a sub on our new home construction around 2019. This review is not necessarily indicative of their current work, but upon having some issues with our heat system, a firm came out and noticed that the wiring was essentially fully incorrect and not at all consistent with industry standards. Our auxiliary heat evidently hasn't kicked on in years due to poor wiring causing us to overspend on heating in the winter. Unless this company has significantly changed its ways, it's hard for me to recommend anyone who performs work outside industry practice to save a buck (or they have no idea what they're doing).

Jan 16, 2025 · Kyle SCooper was a subcontractor for our new construction home. HVAC unit was poorly installed. Pipes and coils were bent in terrible ways, all the freon leaked out, and water had accumulated in the system. Since our house was still under new construction warranty, we contacted them to come out several times to address the issue. Communication was terrible. The problem was never fixed, despite them working on it. Apparently my entire subdivision had similar problems where their HVAC unit was not working and it is because of Cooper. We noticed the HVAC unit had problems only a couple weeks after moving. The builder used another HVAC contractor to take over fixing the problems because Cooper is incompetent.

May 09, 2023 · Andy JiangI purchased a new home construction in Sanford NC from Smith Douglas Homes and Cooper did the HVAC system. They installed a 3.5 ton unit in a 3000 sq/ft home. The summer temperatures get to the mid 90s. My HVAC cannot cool my home below 76 degrees. When we have guests over, the home gets to 80 degrees. I never thought I would have this issue in a brand new home and no one should ever have to deal with this.Cooper shifted the blame to the builders, but Cooper are expected to provide the Manual J load calculations and install an appropriately sized unit, even if the builder recommends something different. It is the HVAC contractors responsibility to make those recommendations. Cooper refuses to do anything, so I am now having to go through legal actions to get any sort of resolution.I contacted 3 other local Sanford HVAC companies with great reviews who told me the unit should be 5 tons. If you are buying a Smith Douglas Home where Cooper did the install, stay away from the home. Be sure you ask for the Manual J and get an independent HVAC to double check.
