Appliance Repair Introduce
For homeowners and residents throughout North Carolina, the smooth operation of everyday life often hinges on the reliability of household appliances. A broken refrigerator, a non-starting washing machine, or a malfunctioning dryer can quickly disrupt a family's routine and create a significant source of stress. When these essential machines fail, finding a dependable general contractor who specializes in appliance repair is paramount. In Asheville, a local business known as Appliance Repair, and also by the name "In His Time" repair, has been a part of the community, offering a range of repair services for major household appliances and HVAC systems. As with any service provider, the experience a customer has can vary greatly, and it is crucial to consider all available public information to make a fully informed decision. A true professional in this field not only has the technical know-how to diagnose and fix a problem but also the integrity and communication skills to ensure a positive and transparent service experience from start to finish.
The role of an appliance repair professional is to accurately diagnose a problem and provide a reliable solution. A good contractor understands the intricacies of different brands and models and can recommend the most cost-effective course of action, whether it's a simple repair or a full replacement. One customer's experience with the owner, Terry Wilson, highlights the complexity of this relationship. The customer described an initial interaction where Terry seemed knowledgeable and diagnosed a problem with a dishwasher's electronic panel. However, the diagnosis proved to be incorrect, and a subsequent, less expensive part was able to fix the problem. The customer's attempt to discuss the situation with the contractor was met with defensiveness rather than an openness to reconsider the initial diagnosis. This kind of experience is a valuable lesson for any homeowner: while a contractor may seem knowledgeable, a willingness to listen and be flexible when a diagnosis proves wrong is a hallmark of true professionalism. This story contrasts with other reviews for "In His Time" where customers praise Terry Wilson for his responsiveness, professionalism, and honesty, noting that he provided helpful advice on whether to repair or replace an appliance. These varying perspectives underscore the importance of looking at a full range of reviews and understanding that every interaction is unique. For anyone in the Asheville area, these differing accounts serve as a reminder to prioritize clear communication and a contractor's willingness to stand by their work.
Appliance Repair, or "In His Time" repair, operates on an appointment-required basis, which allows them to manage their schedule and provide dedicated service to each client. This business model suggests a focus on personalized attention rather than high-volume, quick-fix jobs. Their expertise spans across major household appliances including refrigerators, dryers, and washing machines. They also identify as an HVAC contractor, indicating a broader skillset that encompasses heating and cooling systems. This dual specialization can be a benefit for customers who may have multiple needs for their home's mechanical systems. While their services are focused on repair, it is crucial that the repair is done correctly the first time to save the homeowner from additional costs and hassle. The customer who ultimately fixed their dishwasher for a fraction of the cost initially recommended highlights the importance of a contractor’s ability to provide a correct diagnosis, a fundamental aspect of their job. The positive reviews, on the other hand, speak to a different experience, where a technician, like Terry Wilson, is professional, responsive, and provides good value. For residents in North Carolina, especially in the Asheville region, the lesson here is to not only consider a contractor's stated services but also to carefully weigh their reputation for accuracy, honesty, and effective communication throughout the entire process. A truly great contractor is one who can admit a mistake and work to rectify it, fostering a level of trust that is irreplaceable.

What is worth choosing
When you are faced with a broken appliance or an HVAC problem in North Carolina, the decision to hire a general contractor is an important one. What is worth choosing in a company like Appliance Repair, or "In His Time" repair, is a complex question that requires a look at both the positive and negative feedback. On one hand, the company has a reputation for being responsive, professional, and honest, with a technician who can provide helpful advice and fair pricing, as noted in some reviews. This kind of service is invaluable and is what every homeowner hopes for. However, it is equally important to consider the feedback that highlights a misdiagnosis and a lack of accountability when a problem was not solved correctly. This points to a potential risk in communication and follow-through that any potential customer should be aware of. A truly reliable contractor will not only have the technical skill to fix a problem but also the integrity to admit a mistake and work with the client to find a correct solution. The best choice is a company that is consistently able to deliver on its promises and maintain open and respectful communication, even when things don't go as planned. For residents in the Asheville area, Appliance Repair presents a mixed picture, and it would be wise to ask detailed questions and ensure clear expectations are set from the very beginning of the service call. While their service range and local presence are beneficial, their reputation is built on a variety of experiences, making it crucial to approach the decision with a balanced perspective. Ultimately, the best choice is a company that provides both skilled service and unwavering integrity.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This will be a difficult review to write. I never like to be so negative, however this situation warrants it. I called “In His Time” repair to deal with a dishwasher problem where the machine had difficulty starting a cycle. The owner, Terry Wilson, came out and immediately diagnosed the problem to be the electronic panel. He explained that LG dishwashers were notorious with these panels failing and needing replacement. This diagnosis was seemingly very easy for him to define, he explained that this was very common. He recommended that if I was comfortable with doing basic repairs that I could order the part myself and install it to save myself any additional expenses. I felt comfortable with his ease of explanation and knowledge of what he was saying. He also told me I should expect to replace this panel every few years because it will eventually fail again. I was obviously disappointed to hear this but given today’s state of appliance quality, I wasn’t shocked.I paid him his service fee of $65 and then proceeded to order the $195 panel. Once I received it, I installed it without too much difficulty. Unfortunately, it had absolutely no effect on my problem. After repeated attempts to contact Terry Wilson, he called me back. When I told him what I encountered he immediately told me how I made the mistake of buying the part when he recommended that I should have purchased a new dishwasher. I tried to explain to him that we never discussed buying a new dishwasher but he wouldn’t hear of it and emphatically told me that this was his recommendation. It was obvious that he wasn’t interested in entertaining any other option and rather than get into an argument with him I politely ended the conversation and said good-bye.i subsequently did more research and discovered that a common solution to my problem showed it was probably related to the latch switch. I found I could get one of those for $50 and ordered it. It was easy to install and immediately fixed the problem. So, in the end, I was in over $250 by using “In His Time” to help me falsely diagnose the problem and then when I explained to him the situation Terry wasn’t even remotely open to the idea that he might have misdiagnosed the situation.
Oct 29, 2024 · Reno VosslerMr. Wilson was very responsive and professional. His honesty in terms of cost to repair vs. buying new was helpful and probably saved me not only money but hassle as well. Reasonably priced. I would 100 percent recommend him and will definitely use him in the future if needed.
Apr 15, 2024 · Katy PlessMr. Wilson didn't fix my washer, it was beyond repair and that is what I admired so much about Mr. Wilson. He was very courteous, and when he took a look at my machine he simply told me that it would cost more to repair than buy a new one. I really appreciated his honesty. He even tried to reduce his charge for a service call. He had driven 25 miles one way and wanted to reduce my cost. It's been awhile since I've seen that kindness in a repair person. I can not give him a better than excellent rating or I would.PatriciaHendersonville, NC
