When your car’s air conditioning starts to falter or an unfamiliar sound emerges from under the hood, finding a trusted mechanic is a top priority for any driver in Texas. In the heat of a Dallas summer, a reliable AC system isn't just a comfort—it's a necessity. For many in the area, Matt's Air Conditioning Radiator, located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, has become a go-to spot for everything from cooling system repairs to general automotive maintenance. This article will provide a comprehensive look at what this local car repair shop offers, its approach to customer service, and why it has earned a loyal following among some drivers in the community.
Matt's Air Conditioning Radiator is a local auto repair shop that has built a reputation through word-of-mouth recommendations, a powerful indicator of trust within a community. While their name highlights a specialization in air conditioning and radiator work, they offer a wider range of general auto repair services. The shop operates with a personal and customer-focused approach, where Matt himself is involved in the diagnostics and explanation of the work. This hands-on method allows for clear communication, ensuring customers understand the issues with their vehicles and the solutions being proposed. The shop’s goal is to provide honest, detailed service that gets customers back on the road safely and comfortably, with a focus on building long-term relationships rather than just completing a single job.
Matt's Air Conditioning Radiator is conveniently located at 2417 W Twelfth St, Dallas, TX 75211, USA, within the vibrant Oak Cliff neighborhood. This location is easily accessible for residents of Dallas and the surrounding communities. However, as noted by a customer, it is important to be aware that the shop shares a building with another mechanic. Matt's specific shop is on the left side and is painted a light green, which is a helpful detail for first-time visitors to ensure they are at the correct location. This accessibility makes it a practical option for anyone living or working in the area who needs reliable auto repair services without a long drive. The location in Oak Cliff makes it a true local business, serving the immediate community and attracting customers who are willing to travel from further afield based on positive recommendations.
While the name suggests a focus on cooling systems, Matt's Air Conditioning Radiator offers a variety of services to keep vehicles running smoothly.
Air Conditioning System Repair: Specializing in AC issues, Matt and his team can diagnose problems such as muffled noises and lack of cold air, and perform necessary repairs, including recharges and addressing leaks. This service is crucial for Texans, especially during the hot summer months.
Radiator Service: While not specifically detailed in the provided reviews, the company's name indicates a specialization in radiator and cooling system work, which is essential for preventing engine overheating and maintaining the health of a vehicle's engine.
General Auto Repair: Beyond cooling systems, the shop handles other automotive needs, as noted by a customer who planned to return for a strut replacement. This suggests a broader capability for common mechanical repairs and maintenance.
Comprehensive Diagnostics: A key part of their service is the time taken to properly diagnose a vehicle's issue. For one customer with a Honda Fit, Matt was able to systematically explain the problem in "layman's terms" before beginning the work, which is a significant part of the customer experience.
Basic Multipoint Checks: As a value-added service, Matt and his team perform basic checks on other components, such as tires and brakes, demonstrating a commitment to overall vehicle health and providing a more thorough service experience.
The customer experience at Matt's Air Conditioning Radiator is defined by several key features and highlights that set it apart for its loyal customers.
Thorough Communication and Explanation: A standout feature is Matt's dedication to clearly explaining the diagnostic findings and the necessary work in a way that is easy for the customer to understand. This builds confidence and trust in the service being performed.
Transparent and Detailed Estimates: Customers receive a clear estimate for the work, and are even given options, such as less expensive alternatives for parts like a cabin filter. This transparency is highly valued, as it allows customers to make informed decisions without feeling pressured.
Meticulous Record-Keeping and Receipts: One customer particularly appreciated receiving a detailed receipt, which is essential for those who like to keep careful records of their vehicle's service history. This attention to detail reflects a professional and organized approach to business.
Added Value and Customer Care: The "basic multipoint check" and "topped off the fluids" are examples of the extra steps taken to provide great customer service. This goes beyond the specific repair, showing a holistic concern for the customer's vehicle.
Strong Word-of-Mouth Reputation: The fact that customers are willing to drive a significant distance, like 40 miles from Little Elm to Oak Cliff, is a powerful testament to the trust and satisfaction they have in Matt's work. This loyalty is a direct result of the positive experiences people have had. However, it's also important to note the conflicting review that describes a negative experience with wiring and lack of a refund, which suggests a need for potential customers to be cautious and to verify all aspects of the job before committing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 12011 HONDA FITISSUE- Not blowing cold air, sounded like a muffled noiseI found Matt thru word of mouth from a friend of my father. I left my car with Matt so he could properly diagnose my car and after a few hours, he called me and advised me what he found. He systematically explained in layman’s terms what he needed to do to get my car fixed and asked me to approve the work before he started. He gave me an estimate and also gave me less expensive options regarding the cabin filter. My car needed a recharge of freon, replacement filter, and apparently the previous place that worked on my car doubled capped my valves which cause a small leak over time. He said that he didn’t think it was the compressor but advised me to keep an eye on the air flow. Everything cost about a couple hundred bucks. When i picked up my car he provided a detailed receipt, which I appreciate because I like to keep meticulous records on the work completed on my car and also explained that he topped off the fluids. He did a basic multipoint check on my tires and brakes which i thought was great customer service. I will definitely continue to see Matt and drive 40 miles from Little Elm to Oak Cliff just to have him work on my car. He also does other auto repair and i possibly need my struts replaced so I will write another review and let you know how it goes!Only thing I caution you about is to make sure you actually go and see Matt. His shop is a shared building with another completely different mechanic and when i pulled up to his shop for the first time, the other mechanic was waving me into his bay. Matt’s shop is on the left and it is painted a light green. I thought that was very shady behavior on part of the other business.
Jun 05, 2024 · Melissa PenaThis Macanic deserves no stars. My boyfriend took his car up there because he had a wiring issue And Matt said that he can fix the issue. When my boyfriend first got there Matt begged him to walk across the street to the store to buy him some beer then asked him to go again for cigarettes. Matt charge him $350 to not fix the problem He kept the car for four days. He never fixed the issue. The car will not stay running. The windows will not let down and the radio will not come on. my boyfriend asked him for some of his money back because he didn’t fix the problem. He told him no he’s not giving him his money back. My boyfriend took the car to another shop, the shop charged him $600 because they had to redo Matt work. Matt had all the wires on backwards and some of them was crossed up. Please if you want your car done right and not just him taking your money don’t go to him. He would act like he fixing the problem and he never really is and then he will not give her money back if the job is not right.
Aug 02, 2024 · Sharhonda DotsonHad to get my a.c. fixed on my 2005 Honda Accord. Went to Matt's first for an estimate and he showed me what was wrong and what would need to be replaced. He gave me a few estimate options depending on what he would end up fixing. Took it to another shop and they agreed with what Matt had said and gave me their estimate, which was considerably higher compared to Matt's estimate, so I went with Matt. He was very knowledgeable and amiable, and I felt comfortable letting him do the work. He kept in touch with me regarding the fix and was able to get it everything done in the time he promised. It was a bit of a wait getting in, but I think he's just there by himself and it was only about a day or 2. The final cost was a little bit more than his initial estimate, but it was still pretty close and definitely a fair price for the work. This was about a month ago, and my a.c. is still blowing ice cold. Very satisfied. He can talk your ear off if you let him, but he's usually pretty funny
Aug 04, 2019 · Scott CooperNeeded r1234yf in my 2017 Land Rover. Matt was very knowledgeable and very nice. He ran into some unexpected issue and instead of charging me extra he gave me a discount for the taking longer than expected. Couldn’t recommend his business more. Thanks Matt!-Jacob
Jun 30, 2023 · Jacob Soto OrtizMatt has worked on my families vehicles for decades. He used to be in charge of making sure the emergency response vehicles of the city of dallas where in top condition. I've never had to bring something back for anything. He's very meticulous - does the best job he can - every single time. He's a wealth of knowledge and will always give you his honest opinion. One of those rare bread of mechanics.
