Haslet's Best AC & Heating Repair Introduce
For residents of Haslet, Texas, and the surrounding communities, a reliable air conditioning and heating system is not merely a convenience—it's a critical component of safety and comfort, especially given the state's extreme weather patterns. Finding a trustworthy HVAC service provider is a top priority for homeowners, and many rely on local searches and online reviews to make their decision. However, this article serves as a crucial warning about a company that, according to multiple detailed customer accounts, operates under various names, including "Haslet's Best AC & Heating Repair," "DFW AC Repair," and reportedly, "Abundant Air." The purpose of this overview is to inform the community about serious allegations of unprofessional conduct, misleading diagnoses, and potential overcharging. It is a stark reminder for local users to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough research before engaging with this business.
Based on a detailed personal account from a customer, there are significant concerns regarding the company's diagnostic processes and business practices. The review, which we will break down for clarity, details a series of events that began with a simple AC issue and escalated into a costly and unnecessary repair recommendation. The customer’s experience, along with their findings of similar reviews on other platforms like Yelp and the Better Business Bureau, points to a pattern of behavior that should raise red flags for any potential client. The narrative from this customer provides a cautionary tale about the importance of getting a second opinion and verifying a company's credibility beyond a quick Google search.
This article is designed to act as a public service announcement for the local Texas community, providing a transparent and factual account of the provided information. It will delve into the specifics of the customer's experience, the company's alleged tactics, and the ultimate resolution from a different, more professional service provider. By sharing this information, the goal is to prevent other local homeowners from falling victim to similar experiences and to encourage them to be diligent in their selection of a home service provider.
The provided information lists the company’s address as 2209 White Ln, Haslet, TX 76052, USA. Haslet is a growing community in Tarrant County, situated north of Fort Worth. The location itself is within a residential area, which might give the impression of a small, local business deeply integrated into the community. However, as the detailed customer review indicates, the company may also operate under other names and its physical presence does not guarantee professional or ethical service. While the address makes them geographically accessible to residents of Haslet and neighboring areas, the negative feedback suggests that accessibility in terms of prompt and honest service is highly questionable.
The company’s ability to serve local residents is a moot point if the quality of that service is compromised. The review details a situation where a technician, identified as Mark Coughlin, was called out to a property. Despite being local, his initial visit was reportedly insufficient, requiring a second visit that resulted in a highly questionable diagnosis. This lack of thoroughness on a local service call underscores that physical proximity does not always equate to reliable or trustworthy service. For locals, the convenience of a nearby provider is a key factor, but the detailed review suggests this company's services may not be worth the risk, regardless of how close they are.
The review also notes that the customer found the company through a local Google search, highlighting the potential for misrepresentation in online listings. While the address is a factual piece of information, the reputation and business practices associated with it are what truly matter to local users. The negative experiences shared indicate that while the location is accessible, the business itself may not be a beneficial choice for the local community.
Based on the company name, "Haslet's Best AC & Heating Repair," and the provided reviews, the business presents itself as an HVAC service provider specializing in air conditioning and heating repair. The negative review details a service call for an AC unit that was not cooling properly, and a second review, which appears to be a copy-paste of a different, more positive experience with a separate company, mentions a range of services from capacitor replacement to coil cleaning. However, the in-depth negative review provides a factual look at the services reportedly performed by a technician from this company. The actions described in the review include:
Thermostat Diagnosis: On the first visit, the technician reportedly diagnosed the issue as a broken thermostat without a thorough inspection of the AC unit itself.
Frozen Coil Diagnosis and Freon Addition: On a subsequent visit, the technician diagnosed a frozen unit with a coil leak and added Freon. The review alleges he overcharged the unit with an excessive amount of Freon, an action that a second technician later claimed was unnecessary and potentially damaging to the unit.
Coil Replacement Recommendation: The technician from this company recommended an immediate coil replacement, a costly service that a second opinion later deemed completely unnecessary for a unit that was less than three years old.
Flushing and Filter Replacement: A different company's technician was ultimately hired to correct the problem. Their services, which successfully resolved the issue, included flushing the system of the excess Freon and replacing a dirty air filter, which was the actual cause of the AC problem.
This stark contrast in service and diagnosis is a critical point for local users to consider. The services offered by this company, as experienced by the reviewer, were reportedly misdiagnosed and resulted in unnecessary charges and potential damage to the system.
Based on the provided customer feedback, the features and highlights of this business are highly negative and serve as a warning rather than a promotional tool.
Misleading Business Identity: The review explicitly states that the company operates under various names, including "Haslet's Best AC & Heating Repair," "DFW AC Repair," and "Abundant Air," suggesting a pattern of changing names to avoid negative reviews. This practice is a major red flag for any consumer.
Incomplete and Inaccurate Diagnostics: The technician, Mark, is accused of failing to perform basic diagnostic steps, such as checking the air filter, which led to an incorrect diagnosis. The second opinion from another company confirmed this, stating that the technician "skipped the first 6-7 steps that every tech should take."
Allegations of Overcharging and Upselling: The company allegedly overcharged for Freon that was not needed and recommended a very expensive coil replacement for a new unit, a recommendation the second technician called out as something "no honest technician would recommend." The customer was charged $950 for work that did not fix the problem.
Poor Customer Service and Refund Policy: When the customer contacted the company to complain, they were met with a supervisor, Robyn, who was identified as the technician's wife. The company's policy was reportedly not to offer full refunds, and despite the clear evidence of a bad service call, only a partial refund was provided.
Misleading Online Presence: The review notes that the customer was initially drawn to the company because of "20 5-star reviews" on Google. This highlights the risk of relying solely on one platform for reviews, as the customer later found many negative reviews on other sites like Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. The promotional content on a website may not accurately reflect the company's real reputation.
The contact information for the company known as "Haslet's Best AC & Heating Repair" is as follows:
Address: 2209 White Ln, Haslet, TX 76052, USA
Phone: (817) 839-4612
Mobile Phone: +1 817-839-4612
Potential customers are urged to use this information with extreme caution and to consider the negative experiences detailed in this article.
Based on the factual information and detailed customer review provided, this article must conclude with a warning rather than a recommendation. The provided information strongly suggests that "Haslet's Best AC & Heating Repair" is not a suitable business for local Texas residents seeking reliable and honest HVAC services. The review, which is both comprehensive and corroborated by the reviewer's reference to other online complaints, paints a picture of a company that may be engaged in deceptive practices.
For locals, the suitability of a service provider is built on a foundation of trust, competence, and fair pricing. The provided account systematically dismantles each of these pillars. The allegations of inaccurate diagnostics, overcharging, and recommending expensive, unnecessary repairs directly contradict what a trustworthy local business should be. The alleged practice of changing names to evade a poor reputation further erodes any confidence. A local business should be a dependable part of the community, not one that operates under a veil of shifting identities.
Ultimately, the best advice for local residents is to treat this business with extreme caution. The experience detailed in the review—where a simple, dirty filter was overlooked for a complex, costly, and unnecessary repair plan—is a clear indication of a service that does not prioritize the customer's best interest. Instead of providing the reliable service its name implies, the company has reportedly caused financial loss and stress for a local homeowner. The best course of action for anyone in the Haslet area is to seek out a different, well-vetted HVAC company with a transparent history and a verifiable reputation for honest work.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1*TLDR- This is your warning to stay away from Haslets Best AC & Heating Repair. Otherwise known as DFW AC Repair, and formerly operated under Abundant Air.* I believe they have changed their name to hide their many negative reviews (feel free to search them under Yelp or Better Business Bureau). This is based off of my personal experience and other reviews I’ve read with almost identical stories to ours.Mark Coughlin came out to look at our tenants’ AC after it was reported to fail to cool the house below 75° (we used to live in this house and now live out of state). Our house was built in Summer 2022.The first day he came out, he diagnosed the issue as a broken thermostat issue. However, we later learned that he failed to examine literally any part of our house or AC unit other than the thermostat itself. Of course, this did not work and we had to call Mark to come out again the next day.Day 2- Mark comes out and now diagnoses the issue as a frozen unit with a coil leak and low Freon (he would’ve seen the frozen unit yesterday had he just simply looked the first day he came out). Mark reports that typically 3-4 pounds of 410A Freon is needed in this situation (he charged us $160 per pound of Freon). After he defrosts the coil and adds 5 pounds of Freon (more than initially reported, but we can get past that), he recommends that we schedule a coil replacement with him immediately ($2800). Again, our unit is not even 3 years old. Mark reassures me he checked to make sure the house was cooling before he left and charged us $950 for his service. The house NEVER cooled at all.Our tenants called us with concerns that not only was there no change to the inside temperature of the house, but with concerns of Mark’s thoroughness and credibility. We actually had similar concerns, so hired a tech from a different company for a second opinion who came out the next day (2 days after Mark’s most recent visit).Immediately, this tech notices that a dirty filter is the culprit behind our AC issue. Once the filter was replaced, the house began to cool immediately. This tech also calls with concerns regarding Mark’s work- saying he overcharged the unit with way too much Freon which ***”May potentially result in unit damages.”*** He continues to explain that “adding any amount of Freon was not necessary at all” and that it “makes absolutely no sense”; and believes that Mark skipped “the first 6-7 steps that every tech should take prior to diagnosing a problem”, hence why he didn’t notice the dirty filter. He also says that there are no signs of a hole in the coil, nor would he recommend a replacement because the unit is still new and that “no honest technician would recommend this”. To further quote this tech, he stated that Mark “was trying to sell us a unit.” This tech was able to flush out our system of the excess amount of Freon put in (Mark’s fault) and replace the filter for us all in under an hour. There have been no issues with our unit since. We called Mark’s company and asked to speak to his supervisor. Robyn answered and stated she’s the owner. She is also his wife, by the way- they just don’t tell you that part. We spoke with Mark and Robyn regarding our issues and he offered us a refund for 1.5 pounds of Freon, but nothing else because they “don’t offer refunds”. We requested for a full refund of all of the Freon put in (5 pounds), but offered to pay him for his visit and for his efforts in defrosting the coil. It’s been a month and though we got a partial refund, he refuses to offer anything further. This was all before I stumbled across the many negative reviews I found elsewhere online. We found him off of google after seeing he was local to us and had 20 5-star reviews. I didn’t think to look them up on BBB or yelp- my mistake for sure.My hope is that I can warn others now so they don’t have to go through what we have had to as we are now out over $1k.
