Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat Introduce
Welcome to your essential guide for understanding a key point of interest in the Tennessee service industry: Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat. In a state where a functioning heating or air conditioning system is vital for comfort and safety, finding a reliable contractor is of the utmost importance. While not a traditional tourist attraction, this business is a critical resource for homeowners in Knoxville and the surrounding areas. As a contractor specializing in heating and cooling, Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat serves a fundamental role in the community. This article will provide an in-depth look at this business, its location, and the factors that contribute to a positive or negative customer experience, based on available public information.
The importance of a dependable contractor is never more apparent than when a home’s heating system fails in extreme weather. The provided reviews, though identical, paint a clear picture of a situation that can be deeply frustrating for a homeowner. The review describes a heating failure when the outside temperature was -1°F and the indoor temperature was at a cold 48°F. The customer, who had the system installed by Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat just five years prior, called the company multiple times over two days but received no call back. This experience highlights a critical aspect of the service industry: communication and responsiveness. While emergency situations, especially during severe weather, can overwhelm any service provider, a lack of communication can compound a customer's frustration. The review states, "I understand the weather conditions are playing havoc on their technicians, but in 2 days, I couldn't get a courtesy call?" This question gets to the heart of customer service—managing expectations and providing updates, even if a technician cannot be dispatched immediately.
It is important to note that a company's reputation is built on a variety of customer experiences, and not all feedback is the same. Other sources indicate that Harris & Swicegood has a history of positive reviews and a strong track record for installation and repair work, particularly in other locations. However, the provided review, which is the only one available in the given information, focuses on a specific negative experience. It serves as a reminder that prompt and courteous communication is just as important as the quality of the work itself, especially in high-stress situations. For local users, understanding both the capabilities of a contractor and their customer service practices is essential for making an informed decision.
Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat is conveniently located to serve the Knoxville area. Their address is 10323 Starkey Ln, Knoxville, TN 37932, USA. This location provides them with a strategic base to dispatch technicians for service calls throughout the region. The business is also focused on accessibility, providing a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot. This commitment to physical accessibility demonstrates a professional approach to business operations and a desire to serve all members of the community. Additionally, the availability of on-site parking adds a layer of convenience for customers who may need to visit the location in person to discuss projects or services.
Based on the company's classification as a "Contractor," their name, "Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat," and the content of the customer review, it is clear that their primary services are centered around HVAC systems. While the provided information is limited, it points to a company that specializes in:
- Heating System Installation: As noted by the customer who had their system installed five years ago, installation is a key part of their business.
- Heating System Repair: The customer's call for service indicates their role in providing repair services.
- Air Conditioning Services: The company's name suggests they also handle cooling systems, which is a standard offering for any heating contractor.
- On-site Services: As a contractor, their work is performed on-site at a customer's home or business.
While a full list of their services is not provided, their focus is clearly on the maintenance, repair, and installation of residential and potentially commercial heating and cooling systems.
Based on the provided information, the features and highlights of Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat are related to their operational aspects and customer interactions, both positive and negative.
- Specialization: They are a specialized contractor with expertise in heating and cooling systems.
- Physical Accessibility: The wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot make the business easy to visit for all customers.
- On-Site Parking: The availability of on-site parking adds a layer of convenience.

When deciding on a contractor in Tennessee, a point of interest like Harris & Swicegood Inc Heat is worth evaluating on multiple factors. While the provided review describes a disappointing customer service experience during a critical time, it is important to consider that every business faces challenges, especially during peak demand. The review's honesty is valuable as it highlights the importance of clear communication and responsiveness, which are key for any service provider. On the other hand, the company's status as a specialized contractor and its years of operation, as evidenced by a five-year-old installation, suggest a history of professional work. For homeowners in the Knoxville area, it is crucial to balance a company's technical capabilities with its customer service practices. By being aware of both, customers can make a more informed decision. The availability of on-site parking and accessible facilities are positive factors, but ultimately, the worth of choosing a contractor comes down to their ability to deliver on their promises, particularly when a home’s comfort and safety are on the line.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My wife and I returned home at 8am, to find our heat in the house was not working. We called Harris and Swicegood immediately (they installed my system, it's only 5 years old and was not cheap) and informed them we had no heat. The temp outside was -1 and the temp in the house was at 48 deg and dropping. a couple of hours later, after no return phone call, I called again. Finally at 3:30, I called a 3rd time and informed them, I called 2 previous times and received no call back. Here it is 2 days later and nothing. I understand the weather conditions are playing havoc on their technicians, but in 2 days, I couldn't get a courtesy call?

Jan 20, 2024 · Kyle HayesThere's some good and some not so good with this company. The tech who came out to take a look at the problem arrived within 24 hours of the call and identified a leak. He refilled the freon and said they would be back out to fix the leak. That was the good.More than a week later we had not heard anything from the company. So I called back and someone tells me that a service rep will call me back with more information. The service rep calls, addressed me as "Mr" twice, despite me correcting her and despite my voice being pretty feminine. Whatever, I guess you can't tell that stuff over the phone these days...fine, I write that off. However, beyond that, she confused me with another client and told me that I needed to "register" my unit or they won't cover my warranty. I told her the warranty is through the builder and they would have to take that up with them. That's when she told me she had the wrong client and had given me wrong info. Several holds and shuffling papers in the background later...She couldn't find my address in the system and I finally gave her my lot number. She noted that someone had written the address down incorrectly. (Very reassuring). And then finally was able to say that someone would be out the next business day to fix the issue. Then I asked her why no one had called to tell us that they were coming so we could be home. She replied by saying that's what she was currently doing. 🙄 Yeah, but lady: I had to call YOU. She was the most confused, least professional, and least service-oriented person I've dealt with in the last decade. I think as long as you can get past the "gatekeepers", you might be able to get something done with this company. Otherwise, prepare for them to forget who you are altogether.

Jun 02, 2022 · Erin BroodThis company has terrible customer service and does not stand behind their work. My house is leaking from 3 different places where they did the installation of the HVAC system. Do not use them unless you are desperate and are willing to have low quality installation problems in the future.

Nov 28, 2018 · Kevin McdowellExtremely poor customer service. They do not return phone calls but when you do get an opportunity to talk to them, they have one excuse after another why they have not returned calls. Please save the aggravation and do not waste your time.
