★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently signed up for Gent Heating and Cooling annual service. They quickly scheduled my first inspection and service appointment. It was excellent. The technician, Blake was very thorough, and he took the time to explain the results to me and answer questions. I was very confident with his experience and knowledge. He also helped me set up and test the remote thermostat app to my phone. My overall experience, from talking to the office staff through my onsite appointment was very positive. Thank you!
Aug 04, 2025 · Rob YoungThese guys are a life saver!! They were able to come out the next day from my initial call, within the window promised, and cleaned up a mess that the builder left with our home ventilation. The company uses a great communication process and even sends photo identification of the tech prior to their arrival. Cliff and Noah came out today and are the absolute best. They quickly identified the issues and remedied them on the spot. I cannot recommend Gent enough! I signed up for the comfort club and look forward to the fall HVAC service.
Aug 08, 2025 · Amanda Boelke**update due to response** A few points need clarifying so other homeowners can make an informed decision:1. Performance has clearly declined.Since the system was installed (May 2022) Knoxville has logged 107 days at or above 90 °F(ref. NOAA observing site for Knoxville ) —yet the unit held our usual 69 °F set-point through the summers of 2022 and 2023 without issue. This summer it struggles to stay below 75 °F, so something has changed internally, not just in the weather.2. “Attic-door heat gain” is not the root cause. The bonus room climbs above 76 even when the attic door remains closed all day. A brief service visit cannot replicate the sustained overheating we’re experiencing.3. Delta-T on the edge.Your technician measured a 16 °F supply/return difference—the very bottom of the normal 16-22 °F band. When the return air is already in the mid-70s, a 16 °F drop does not achieve the delivered-air temperature the system produced in prior years. That points to reduced capacity (refrigerant charge, airflow, coil condition, or compressor performance). If it was operating at 22°F we would not be having this issue.4. Design conditions vs. real-world comfort.ASHRAE’s Manual S sizing for Knoxville uses a 1 % design dry-bulb of ~94 °F. A correctly sized three-year-old system should still maintain a low-70s indoor temperature at 94-96 °F outdoors—especially since it did so in previous summers. If it no longer can, a mechanical issue is likely. Keep in mind I have a completly brick house as well.5. Insulation details are noted—but not new.The garage ceiling, shared attic wall, and uninsulated attic door have been unchanged since installation, yet cooling performance only deteriorated this year.Gent installed our home’s HVAC system three years ago, and it performed well for the first two summers. This season, however, the cooling stopped working properly. When we requested a service call, we were charged almost $400 only to be told that the system was functioning “as it always has.” That explanation simply doesn’t align with our prior experience. We feel misled—Gent was eager to sell the installation, yet when performance dropped off, they dismissed the problem and attributed it to normal outdoor heat rather than addressing the underlying issue. DO NOT USE THEM. Find a company that will stand behind their work in the long term. They are not it. See the picture of the thermostat after they left. Apparently this is normal because it is “hot”outside.
Jun 27, 2025 · Matt huszarOur seven month old HVAC unit had the compression valve go bad. This was on a Sunday. Gent ordered the part and on Thursday afternoon we were back in business. The two servicemen that came out were great. Unfortunately the way the government is changing how repairs and parts are being regulated getting parts is going to be an issue. I believe Gent did a great job in working within the parameters that are being set.
Aug 22, 2025 · Tim RussellAbsolutely outstanding service. Came out at 8 pm and got my air conditioner going in the heat of the summer. I tip my hat to these guys they are awesome!
