★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Combs installed our AC unit for the second floor in the summer of 2021. This year it become apparent that the system is malfunctioning. We invited our trusted HVAC technician and he estimated $1000-1500 for repair with a problem occurring due to possible wrong installation. Since the unit had a ten year warranty we called Coombs to come take a look at the system since the warranty is through them.I was assured by customer support representative lady that technician will come today and the second opinion evaluation will be free. They gave me us 4 hour window from 12-4. At 3:15 I’ve called to find out when technician will be here. The other phone receptionist informed me that the tech won’t be coming today due to a broken van and potentially will come tomorrow around noon. No apology or any kind of pleasant interaction for the inconvenience of 4 hour wait.. She also informed me that it will a service call charge , and whoever promised me it will be free is a new employee and gave me the wrong information. She also stated that I’m not the only customer who didn’t receive a service today , I guess it was supposed make me feel better., surprisingly it didn’t. To say that this call was stressful and appalling is an understatement.Additionally:Last winter we had issues with our furnace and we called Coombs to try and figure out what was wrong. Their tech tried to tell us that we just needed to replace the furnace because the parts alone to fix it would cost nearly the same as a new unit. We called a second company out and they were able to fix the furnace in 15 minutes (clogged drain line).Im aware that Coombs changed owners since 2021 but I strongly believe that any reputable company should stand by their product and service, especially if you’ve kept the name. Obviously , it’s not the case here.
Jul 16, 2025 · Tamara QuickShaun was polite, knowledgeable. He patiently answered my questions. He found no reason for my last weeks complaint of condensation dripping out of my downflow furnace duct. It's dry now. I'll have to try to get him out later this summer when it happens again.

Jul 18, 2025 · Ferris OverbeyPut a lot of thought into this before posting it. Been a customer of Combs 10+ years. In 2021, I had a new AC unit & gas furnace installed and it's doing great. The owner & manager seemed to work together really well for many years. Then it seems like the management changed after 2021.In December '23 I called for a quote because I knew my other furnace was on its last legs. Getting the quote was a bit shady...I overheard the new manager on the phone with the tech asking if I had any other quotes. It seemed less about what it would cost to get it done and more about how much they could get out of me.Then in January, the furnace went out during a cold snap. I called and the quote was still good, and I asked for specifications of the equipment they were planning to install. I wanted to know whether the quote included units properly sized for the space, the efficiency ratings, etc. The attached photo is what they sent for "specs" but my back was against the wall - it was cold and getting colder. The crew that installed the heat pump was quick, thorough, and kind. They answered my questions and didn't act like I was a burden for wondering, the way the manager had when I asked for specs. The system they had brought to install wasn't as efficient as I wanted, but I was relieved when the house started warming up again. When they started to leave, I noticed they had removed the Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostat I installed, and put in a new one. The "new" thermostat is basically '90s tech...temp up, down, fan on, auto, and off. I called the office...it was an expensive name-brand thermostat they took with them and replaced it with a steep downgrade. The office said my quote didn't include a smart thermostat and it would be an extra $400 to install one. The quote didn't specify anything!! You can see in the pic it only says "Goodman brand equipment" and nothing else.Have been a great customer. Spent tens of thousands with this company over the years. They fumbled it over sloppy documentation and shady practices. The equipment works well enough. But for this kind of money, the experience should have been much more carefully handled. Not happy. Will never be a customer of this company again.
Jun 09, 2025 · Rhiannon RyanMy complaint isn't with a technician - not scheduled until May. My complaint is with company policy. When Combs owned it their customer service sent an email with your service contract letting you know it was time. The owners now don't do that. Customer has to call them. My service lapped because of this. Every time I get a tech I like they leave. I've already paid for the year now but I will certainly be looking around at other services. How hard would it be to drop the customer a text or e-mail letting them know that the maintenance agreement needs to be renewed.. That's called good customer service
